One of the most popular uses for CCTV systems is for residential security.  Closed Circuit TV broadcasts to specific monitors and requires proper cables or wireless receivers and transmitters to send the signal to the specified location.  If you are considering a CCTV system, let Home Media Solutions help you determine the best system for your home whether you need onsite viewing or remote viewing or both.

Why CCTV?

CCTVHome surveillance and security cameras are utilized to help deter theft or break-ins and can also provide a way for a homeowner to be able to view the things that are going on in or around his or her home at any time of day or night.  Having the recorded video allows you to go back to the time when the problem occurred and see exactly what was going on.  Providing this evidence to the authorities can make all the difference in the perpetrator going free or being caught.

System Components:

  • Cameras – you will need to decide on the type and number of cameras you want to use in your system.  Cameras can be installed in many different areas and come in a variety of different styles and utilize different amounts of resolution. The two basic styles are
    • Dome Camera
    • Box Camera
    • DVR  (Digital Video Recorder) – This is used to make a record of the video being taken.  There are basic models that show what is happening in real time and many come with a variety of playback options as well as multiple channels.  You can also get remote internet or mobile device viewing options.
    • NVR (Network Video Recorder) – internet based device that can record from your IP camera while at the same time allowing remote access of live video streaming.
    • Cabling or wireless receivers and transmitters
